Michael Van Peel — Farce Majeure

Set Design and Construction for the theatre performance Farce Majeure by Michael van Peel
This large-scale theatrical set was developed from a handmade scale model and translated into a scenic landscape. The stage environment consists of a rhythm of laser-cut trees, designed in Adobe Illustrator and hand-painted in ultramarine blue. Together, the trees form a layered, almost dreamlike backdrop in which performance, drawing, and humorous storytelling merge into one visual world. Through lighting placed behind the backdrop, the entire scene can subtly shift in colour — from deep blue to red or green — creating changing atmospheres that interact with the ultramarine trees.
